Common questions
Everything you need to know about switching to an EV in India.
How is the EV cost per km calculated?
+
We use India's average EV charging rate of ₹12/kWh and an average efficiency of 6 km/kWh for mid-size EVs — giving ₹2/km. This is 3–4× cheaper than petrol. Actual costs vary by vehicle model and whether you charge at home or at public stations.
What fuel prices does this use?
+
We use ₹104/litre for petrol and ₹90/litre for diesel — Indian metro averages as of April 2025. Since fuel prices trend upward over time, your long-term savings are likely to be even higher.
Does this include maintenance savings?
+
No — this shows fuel cost savings only. EVs also save on engine oil, coolant, exhaust systems, clutch, timing belt, and many other consumables. Total EV maintenance is 50–60% lower. Your real savings will be noticeably higher.
How is CO₂ saving calculated?
+
Petrol combustion emits ~2.31 kg CO₂/litre. India's electricity grid emits ~0.82 kg CO₂/kWh (2024 CEA factor). We subtract EV grid emissions from petrol emissions for net annual CO₂ saved. One tree absorbs ~22 kg CO₂/year.
